Children’s Privacy Policy

Supplement to the School of Traditional Skills Privacy Policy

Last Modified: March 12, 2026

Overview

School of Traditional Skills, Inc. (“Company,” “we,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of children who access the Traditional Skills Academy platform. This Children’s Privacy Policy (“Children’s Policy”) supplements our main Privacy Policy and describes how we collect, use, and safeguard personal information from children under the age of 13 (“Child Users”) in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and its implementing regulations.

This Children’s Policy applies specifically to the Traditional Skills Academy platform. Our primary website, schooloftraditionalskills.com, is directed to users who are at least 16 years of age. If you are a parent or legal guardian seeking information about our general data practices, please also review our full Privacy Policy.

1. Applicability and Parental Consent Requirement

We do not knowingly permit children under the age of 13 to use the Traditional Skills Academy platform without prior verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian (“Parent”). All Child User accounts must be created and managed by a Parent. If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected without verifiable parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information promptly.

If you are a Parent and believe your child under 13 has accessed the platform without your consent, please contact us immediately at hello@traditionalskillsacademy.com so we can delete the child’s information from our systems.

2. How Parents Consent to Their Child’s Use of the Platform

During the registration process, a Parent must create the primary account and provide verifiable parental consent before any Child User account is activated. Parental consent is obtained through an affirmative checkbox acknowledgment at the time of child account creation, in compliance with COPPA.

Checkbox acknowledgment: At the time of child account creation, a Parent must affirmatively check a consent box confirming that they are the parent or legal guardian of the child and that they consent to our collection and use of the child’s information as described in this Children’s Privacy Policy. The registration form is disabled until the checkbox is checked. This affirmative acknowledgment constitutes verifiable parental consent in compliance with COPPA.

At our discretion, we may also use other COPPA-approved methods, including a signed consent form submitted electronically, by mail, or by fax, or a video or telephone call with trained personnel.

We maintain records of the consent method used, the date and time consent was provided, and the scope of consent. Parents may revoke consent at any time by contacting us at hello@traditionalskillsacademy.com. Upon revocation, we will cease collection and use of the child’s personal information and delete it in accordance with our retention schedule.

3. How Child Users Access the Platform

Child Users access the Traditional Skills Academy through an account created by their Parent. The Parent sets up the child’s login credentials and is responsible for managing the child’s access. Child Users do not independently register for accounts.

Parents are responsible for ensuring that their child’s login credentials are kept confidential and are not shared with others. By creating a Child User account, the Parent acknowledges that they have reviewed this Children’s Policy and consent to our data practices as described herein.

4. What Personal Information We Collect from Child Users

We collect only the personal information that is reasonably necessary for a Child User to participate in the Traditional Skills Academy. This may include:

  • Child’s first name (as provided by the Parent)
  • Login credentials (username and password, created by the Parent)
  • Course progress and activity data (lessons completed, assessments, time spent)
  • Any content submitted by the child within the platform (such as assignment submissions or responses)

We do not collect a child’s full name, home address, email address, phone number, or government ID number directly from Child Users. All account and billing information is collected from and associated with the Parent’s account only.

We do not condition a child’s participation in any activity on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in that activity.

5. How We Use Children’s Personal Information

We use personal information collected from Child Users only for the following purposes, within the scope of the consent provided by the Parent:

  • To create and manage the Child User’s account
  • To provide access to course content and track learning progress
  • To enable the Parent to monitor their child’s activity and progress
  • To communicate with the Parent about their child’s account or activity
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Traditional Skills Academy platform
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use children’s personal information for targeted advertising, behavioral tracking for commercial purposes, or any purpose not described in this Children’s Policy or otherwise authorized by the Parent. We do not sell personal information collected from Child Users.

6. Disclosure of Children’s Personal Information

We do not share children’s personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We may share information with third-party vendors who assist us in operating the platform (such as hosting, analytics, and customer support), subject to contractual obligations requiring them to protect the information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the safety and security of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, children’s personal information may be transferred, subject to the protections described in this Children’s Policy.

We do not disclose children’s personal information to advertising networks, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes. We contract with all third-party service providers handling child data to ensure they maintain security safeguards consistent with our COPPA obligations.

7. What Children’s Information Is Visible to Others

No child’s personal information is made publicly visible through the Traditional Skills Academy platform. Parents may view their child’s account information and progress at any time by logging into the Parent account. No other users can view a child’s personal information through the platform.

8. Parental Rights: Review, Correction, and Deletion

As the Parent or legal guardian of a Child User, you have the right to:

  • Review the personal information we have collected from your child by logging into your account or by submitting a request to hello@traditionalskillsacademy.com
  • Request correction of any inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your child’s personal information from our systems
  • Refuse further collection or use of your child’s personal information
  • Revoke your consent at any time, which will result in termination of the Child User account

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@traditionalskillsacademy.com or by mail at School of Traditional Skills, Inc., P.O. Box 1333, Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805. We will verify your identity as the Parent before fulfilling any request and will honor your request within a reasonable period.

Please note that deleting a child’s personal information may result in the child losing access to the Traditional Skills Academy platform and the loss of associated progress and content.

9. Cookies, Analytics, and Persistent Identifiers

The Traditional Skills Academy platform may use cookies and similar technologies (such as session tokens and analytics tools) to support platform operations. When Child Users are logged in, we limit the use of persistent identifiers to internal operations necessary to provide the service, such as maintaining a session, tracking course progress, and ensuring platform security.

We do not use persistent identifiers on child-directed portions of the platform for targeted advertising or to build behavioral profiles for commercial purposes. Any third-party analytics tools used on child-directed portions are contractually restricted from using child data beyond the internal operational purposes for which it is shared.

10. Security of Children’s Personal Information

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect children’s personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Security measures are commensurate with the sensitivity and volume of information collected.

We require our service providers to implement appropriate security measures consistent with our obligations under COPPA. In the event of a data breach involving children’s personal information, we will notify affected Parents as required by applicable law.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain personal information collected from Child Users only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, including maintaining an active account or complying with legal obligations. When a Child User account is closed or when a Parent requests deletion, we will securely delete or anonymize the child’s personal information in accordance with our written retention schedule.

12. Changes to This Children’s Privacy Policy

We may update this Children’s Policy from time to time. We will provide notice to Parents of material changes before they take effect, including by email to the address associated with the Parent’s account. Your continued use of the Traditional Skills Academy following the posting of a revised Children’s Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
